The 2014 Montana Governor's Conference on Tourism will be held in Billings at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana April 13 – 15. This will be a great opportunity to showcase our community, to learn from the diverse Montana tourism community, and to work together to really make Billings stand out in the best possible way as a competitive Montana destination. Pre-conference events will take place downtown Sunday, April 13, including trail and historic tours as well as opportunities to learn more about Billings' brews, spirits and wine, sponsored by the Billings Area Chamber of Commerce. The Montana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network will be hosting their fifth annual Invest in Success small business conference, April 16 and 17, at Montana Tech in Butte. The Montana Small Business Development Centers are a statewide network of ten regional centers. The conference's theme "Embracing Technology" will focus on how small businesses and potential entrepreneurs can use technology to enhance their financial, marketing, and managerial skills. Legal Reform Conference Scheduled
The Montana Chamber's biannual legal reform conference is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Billings. The agenda will cover business issues currently in the courts, legislative legal reforms, potential reforms for the tax appeal process, subrogation in Montana's work comp system, trespass liability, and legal issues relating to natural resource development in Montana. In attendance will be staff from the U.S. Chamber's Institute for Legal Reform and numerous leaders in the state's legal community.

The Made in Montana Food and Gift Show will be held March 21-22, 2014 at the Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds in Helena. March 21 will be exclusively for wholesale buyers, with March 22 open to the public.

A fundraiser for the Shriners Hospitals for Children will be held on Nov. 9 and 10 at the Al Bedoo Shrine Auditorium in Billings. The Billings Best Holiday Bazaar will feature products sold by several non-profit organizations in Billings. The primary focus of the event is a raffle that will raise money for the Shriners Hospitals. Raffle prizes are items or gift certificates donated by local businesses. The Shriners Hospitals for Children are the world's best pediatric care centers; they provide cutting edge care at no out-of-pocket expense to the patient. Everyday thousands of children's lives are saved by this organization. It costs $1 million per day, per hospital, to stay open, and there are 22 hospitals in the US alone.

A 4-person acoustic bluegrass band, the Special Consensus Concert, will appear Dec. 7 at the Babcock Theatre, 8 p.m., a presentation of the Yellowstone Bluegrass Association. Tickets are $15. The band's repertoire features traditional bluegrass standards, original compositions by band members and professional songwriters, and songs from other musical genres performed in the bluegrass format. Governor Steve Bullock will provide "The Last Word" at the 14th annual Business Days at the Capitol, January 8-9, 2014 in Helena. Business Days is the Montana Chamber's largest event. Bullock will speak at the closing luncheon of the two-day conference. Business Days begins Wednesday with the Chamber's traditional "State of Business" address at the opening luncheon, followed by presentations on business issues in the afternoon and the Lawmaker Appreciation Reception and Banquet that night. This year the 46th Annual NILE Stock Show & Rodeo will take place October 15-19 at MetraPark in Billings.
