Abatement Begins on Battin Building

The asbestos abatement has started on the former James F. Battin Federal Courthouse. The building, located at 316 North 26th Street in Billings, that has sat vacant for several years, is headed toward a new future. Owner, Joe Holden said, “We are excited to begin the process of bringing this building back to life in Downtown Billings and I would like to thank Big Sky Economic Development and the City of Billings for their support in this process.”

MacIntyre to Receive Ag Excellence Award

In a short, surprise ceremony last week, the Billings Chamber 2017 Award for Agricultural Excellence honoree was announced as Bruce MacIntyre, who serves with the Chamber. This award is presented to an individual, organization or family who made a significant impact in the local ag industry. MacIntyre, the Chamber’s liaisons to the Ag Committee, was selected by the members of the 40 member volunteer committee for his dedication to the industry.

Montana Women’s Run Donations Top $1 million

The Montana Women’s Run has donated $101,000 to women’s health and fitness programs in the Billings community from funds raised this year. This year’s donation puts total donations made by the Women’s Run to local organizations over $1 million.
This year’s funds are donated to YWCA, $40,000; Billings Clinic Foundation, $30,000; Rocky Mountain College Women’s Cross-Country Scholarship Program, $5,500; MSU-B Women’s Cross-Country and Track Scholarship Programs, $5,500; and Billings YMCA, $20,000.

Large Heights Subdivision Planned

Plans for a major subdivision received final approval from Yellowstone County Commissioners on Tuesday.
Bar 11 Subdivision engulfs 206 acres in an area about one mile north of Highway 312, north of the Billings Heights and west of Bitterroot Drive. It will create 162 lots for single family residences in phased development. The lots range in size from a half acre to four acres.

Gilmore Recognized

BJ Gilmore, the chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, will receive the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Healthcare from the Montana State University College of Nursing.

Billings Clinic Trauma Center Receives Verification as Level II Trauma Center

The trauma center at Billings Clinic has been verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee (VRC), an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This achievement recognizes the trauma center’s dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients.
