Inner Belt Loop Project Could Require Bond Issue


The proposed Inner Belt Loop which would connect the Heights to the westend of Billings has been pulled from the back burners by the Billings City Council, and urged forward with the likelihood of being funded by issuing bonds.
The plan has been talked about for a long time, said Mayor Tom Hanel, and it’s time to “get serious” about what could be a $13 million project. The cost of the project could absorb four years of annual funding sources the city relies upon for most of its transportation budget, which made the idea of borrowing the financing by issuing bonds, appealing. Issuing bonds would have to be approved by the voters.

Billings Clinic Top Cardio Hospital


Billings Clinic was named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, an IBM company.
The study, now in its 18th year, singled out 50 hospitals that achieved superior clinical outcomes in this critical area of hospital care. The 100 Top Hospitals study is widely regarded as the leading program for evaluating leadership in a hospital, as well as for evaluating quality indicators and efficiencies.

Reiser Named to Board


The Billings Chamber of Commerce announce that the Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, has appointed Jennifer Reiser, IOM, Chief Operating Officer of the Chamber, to the West Board of Regents. As a member of this Board, Reiser will implement the policies created by Institute’s National Board of Trustees.

PacificSource Grants YBGR $45,000


PacificSource Health Plans has awarded Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch (YBGR) $45,000 for a Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) training grant. The Beck Institute and PESI Inc. will oversee the events and curriculum of the training grant for YBGR, which include a three-day, direct-care staff training event; a monthly supervision program for selected YBGR therapists; CBT certification for Chandra Perez, YBGR’s clinical director; and new facility upgrades.

Bench Boulevard Construction Done


Knife River-Billings, general contractor for the final phase of the Bench Boulevard reconstruction, announced last week that all major work on the project is complete.
Construction crews began work on the 2-mile stretch of road from Hilltop Road to Pemberton Lane in March 2016. Throughout the final phase, crews made multiple improvements including widening the roadway to include a center turn lane. The project has new sidewalks and driveway approaches, LED street lights, and storm drain systems. Knife River made additional improvements to existing traffic signals, pedestrian push button crossing equipment and signage. Aesthetic improvements such as trees and landscaping were also added. Crews also added new safety measures to school zones, such as bulb-out corners at crosswalks and better on-street parking.

Susan Lynch Joins Stockman Bank


Susan Lynch has joined Stockman Bank as compliance lending officer. Her responsibilities include developing and integrating policy and procedure consistent with regulatory requirements for lending functions, as well as developing and presenting training programs for employees on lending compliance procedures in all 34 Stockman Bank locations.
