US crude oil production is expected to increase slightly this year to 9 million BOPD - up from 8.9 million BOPD in 2016 - and up to 9.3 million BOPD in 2018, according to the Energy Information administration. The increase is due to increased production in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as from oil producing states. Increases in dry natural gas are also expected, up to 1.4 Bcf a day and 2.8 Bcf a day in 2018. The US is projected to become a net energy exporter.
